Postdoctoral Position in Mass Spectrometry (m/f)

Summary

Description

The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics is an international research institute with approx. 500 employees, working in the field of medical genomics. A special focus lies on genome analysis of man and other organisms.

The Otto Warburg Junior Research Group of Dr. Sascha Sauer, “Nutrigenomics and Gene Regulation”, is seeking outstanding candidates for a

Postdoctoral Position in Mass Spectrometry (m/f)
(TVöD E 13) – OWL 10/32

The group is focusing on the analysis of molecular interaction of small molecules with gene regulation networks with the aim to understand and model cellular processes related to the therapy of metabolic diseases.

For the systematic analysis of the action of small molecules on proteome patterns and on posttranslational modification of transcriptional regulators in target cells of the metabolic syndrome we will use state-of-the art sample preparation procedures and mass spectrometry for detection (Nano-HPLC LTQ XL Orbitrap, conventional ions traps and MALDI-TOF-MS (Ultraflex)).

Strong interest, substantial experience and skills in mass spectrometry (ESI, MALDI), analytical chemistry (chromatography), proteomics, and bioinformatics are required. Applicants will benefit from working in a highly stimulating interdisciplinary environment.

Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant area and should have authored articles published in international peer review journals.

Applicants are expected to be highly motivated and reliable, and to be willing to develop their conceptual and writing skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as willingness to work in a team.

The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply. The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.

We offer an exciting position in a team with great opportunities for scientific as well as professional development. The position is available immediately, for up to four years with the possibility of extension.

Applications including the usual documents should be sent until December 15th 2008 via e-mail to: kliem@molgen.mpg.de
